I can't believe I read all that. It was like reading a thriller novel about one of the stupidest goofs in recent history, and I couldn't stop. Good work, sir. Thank you for what you do.

Thank you! I'm glad to bring the cutting edge of internet weirdness directly to you in the most entertaining fashion I can.

My sister was just telling me about this during breakfast yesterday 💀

The fact that this is now being told over breakfast tables is a testament to just how catastrophically Mr. Verbalase really fumbled the bag.

I like that there are still old-fashioned crazy folks like this guy. These days the insane people always seem to be wrapped up in violence, drugs, cults or some kind of criminal element. Verbalase is just a harmless (and hilarious) nutcase and I’m happy he’s out there being a weirdo.

Honestly, I think that's one of the reasons I found this story so funny and intriguing. It really is refreshing to see some classically weird eccentric being... well weird and eccentric in a way that isn't ruining anyone's lives (except maybe his own). No violence, no sexual impropriety, nothing sinister - just good old fashioned, run of the mills weirdness. I miss when most weirdo people on the internet stories was "Here's a forty year old guy who lives in his parents basement and draws a cringe webcomic and yeah he's kind of weird but he's not a bad person" versus now where it does indeed seem to feel like it's often "Here's a forty year old guy who lives in his parents basement and draws a cringe webcomic and he's a serial child groomer."

Yes, harmless crazy people really need to make a comeback in popular culture.

I could, and probably should, talk about the overall quality of the article. Focus on the details, the timeline you established of Ase's terrible financial decisions, how that ties into the Hazbin AMV, and maybe even touch on some of the non stop drama surrounding Vivziepop's apparent inability to stop clapping back at TwiX clout chasers who constantly gets her goat to further feed the outrage train surrounding her animations.

But I'm just too impressed by the fact that second meme cured Uncle Ruckus of his revitiligo to worry about any of that. The man must be so happy now! 😂

Honestly, you seem to already know all about Vivziepop and her revolving door/circus of drama, so it's perfectly okay.

I know enough to know she's her own worst enemy much of the time. For a man who never used TwiX more than once, (excluding automated announcement posting for my dead YT channel) information on the drama from there certainly seems intent on finding it's way to my ears.

Yes, she has a terminal case of what I call "Foot in Mouth Disease", which is where someone cannot, for the life of them, shut up and continually open their mouth only to jam their foot firmly in it. I've seen her bandy about her supposed "deep knowledge" of Demonology, which one would think might make her keenly aware of the debilitating effects of pride and hubris, but I suppose when you see demons as aspirational figures rather than what they are... well, the results have been clearly illustrated since time immemorial.

Reminds me of old Dramatica articles detailing nightmarish personas of the internet, but here is merely a silly man with silly obsessions leading to poor finances.

Couldn't even do a Zone style animation, went PG13. Man lacks commitment to his self ruin.

You just made me realize how much the time I spent on Dramatica in my early teen years still influences both my interests and writing style today. I used to spend hours on that site pouring over internet drama and the original stable of lolcows... At least this one isn't nearly as dark as most of those.

Also, it would have been exponentially more comedic if Verbalase had committed to an out and out x-rated animation, but... well, I'm glad that's not what happened. For everyone involved's sake. Including me.

If you Google "All Quiet on the Western Front," you will see many images of me in 2024. I expect matters to go downhill from here.

Also, in the deep core of my neckbeardy, nerd-ass heart, I think that Piccolo outfit is pretty fucking dope. I'm not going to shell out for one, but I appreciate that Verbalase doesn't half-ass things.

Also, my apologies, but the following dialogue entered my mind and wouldn’t leave:

Adym Evans III: My son, you are Verbalase the Fourth. You are the heir to the beatboxing fortune. You must learn the family secrets and take up the mantle.

Adym Evans IV: I don't wanna. I'm gonna be a carpenter.

Evans III: No! You must preserve the legacy! Do not squander what your forefathers have built!

Evans IV: I don't care! Beatboxing hurts my lips. I got my mom's skinny-ass lips. I want to work with my hands. Why couldn’t you have been a truck driver? I hate you! *Runs out the house, slams door.*

Evans III: Goddammit! You get back here and beatbox! *Wails, tears at hair.*

Fortunately - or perhaps unfortunately - it looks as if the genetic gift of Verbalase's beatboxing talents will end with him, as he has no kids and doesn't seem to want any, either. Not to be mean to the guy but I would assume that would cut in to his budget for AMVs, trips to Disney World, and costumes, which... hey, I do think people need to be going forward and multiplying more, but at the same time, I'm also of the opinion that if you don't want kids, do yourself and your hypothetical brood the favor of not having them because you probably won't be a great parent, so I won't give Mr. Adams any grief for that.

Also, all his costumes are of great quality, I can't deny that. Like I said, the man doens't skimp on what he cares about. He reminds me of my friend who has five cars. I respect his passion for his automobile tinkering hobby, but at the same time... that's a lot of cars.

Yikes. This is all new to me. Thanks for enlightening us, it’s hilarious as always and I appreciate your deep dives on things that fly under my radar. Do tell us if you hear back on your costumes, please!

Thanks Jenn. Depending on how it goes, I might make a follow up specifically dedicated to the results. My only regret is that I can't actually go through with it because, if I had the money, I definitely would just for the bit. But I also could not in good consciousness spend ten bands on a cartoon monkey costume.

Perhaps the most confusing aspect of this for me is Mr. Ase's choice of character for his extravagantly expensive porno. Internet personality making atrocious financial decisions? Common to the point of being ubiquitous. Commissioned animator making their commissioner pay out the nose? Not unheard of. Picking Charlie over cartoon werewolf who made a million men say "I'm not a furry, but..." on main? Absolutely incomprehensible

Also, as MBTS has noted, this is a very well written little essay, especially since your turnaround time was what, five days max? I kneel.

Believe it or not, I actually wrote this all in a few hours in one day and I held off on releasing it to coincide with the release of Hazbin Hotel. (full disclosure: I spent the next several days tweaking and editing :P) When I'm inspired, I'm inspired. I do try to stick to a post a week but that may slow down depending on circumstances.

I'm also inclined to agree with you, though, I will be honest - if I were going to pick any character from the series to glom onto, it wouldn't be Charlie or the werewolf, but a secret third choice that I am not at liberty to disclose. And no it isn't the minxy fox furry voiced by Kesha that everyone was going nuts for, if that's where anyone's mind went to.

Congratulations Ape on another lengthy article where my final thoughts at the end are "I'm still not sure how to process that". Looking forward to the next Harry Pothead with all the confusion and trauma that brings.
